QC Inspector – Asphalt Paving & Rolling Pattern

Roles & Responsibilities

• Inspect asphalt paving activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
• Monitor asphalt laying, spreading, leveling, and compaction activities at site.
• Establish and verify the rolling pattern for asphalt compaction in coordination with the paving and roller teams.
• Monitor roller sequence, number of passes, rolling speed, and compaction procedures.
• Check asphalt mix temperature during delivery, laying, and compaction.
• Inspect asphalt surface quality, thickness, levels, alignment, and cross-fall.
• Conduct or coordinate field density and compaction tests as per project requirements.
• Verify asphalt material and mix compliance with approved specifications and test results.
• Monitor paving equipment, rollers, pavers, and other machinery to ensure proper operation.
• Carry out inspections at different stages of asphalt works and raise inspection requests when required.
• Identify defects such as segregation, cracking, surface irregularities, insufficient compaction, or improper joints.
• Ensure proper construction of longitudinal and transverse joints.
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, checklists, test records, and QA/QC documentation.
• Raise NCRs for non-conforming work and follow up on corrective actions.
• Coordinate with site engineers, surveyors, laboratory technicians, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Ensure all asphalt works comply with applicable project specifications, ASTM/AASHTO standards, and approved procedures.
• Monitor material sampling and laboratory testing of asphalt and related materials.
• Maintain daily records of paving activities, temperatures, rolling patterns, test results, and site observations.
• Ensure compliance with project quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Support final inspection, testing, and handover documentation for completed asphalt works.
